Real footage from real windows: it rides the sill like a saddle — half in, half out. That’s the whole trick, and it changes everything.

Every loud, heavy part of an air conditioner lives in the compressor half. A saddle design hangs that half outside, below the glass.
The base is U-shaped. It rides the sill — half inside, half out.
Compressor and hot coil hang outside, below the window line.
The sash closes onto the unit. Side screens fill the gaps.
Only the quiet half stays in the room: 38–45 dB.

A saddle unit is not a better portable. It’s a different category.
If you can lift a laundry basket onto a shelf, you can install this. One person, no drill, no bracket, nothing bolted to the house.
Filmed in real time by owners — the clips at the top are the actual install.
The wall and the closed window sit between you and the compressor. What stays inside is the fan — and little else.
Sleep mode dims the panel and steps the fan down as the room settles. The baby-monitor test: it passes.

The bedroom is finally cold AND quiet
My old unit was a lawnmower bolted to the window. This one I have to look at to know it’s on.

Installed alone in ten minutes, and I’m 63
No drill, no second person, no praying it doesn’t fall. Set it on the sill, two thumb screws, done.

Dry mode is the sleeper feature
Florida humidity. It pulled the sticky out of the air the first night.

I can still open my window
That’s the entire reason I bought it and it delivers. Morning air, no box in the way.

Measure your sill depth first
My ledge is deeper than 11 inches so it needed a shim. Fits fine now, cools great. Measure first — they literally tell you to.

The baby sleeps through it
38 decibels is real. Our white-noise app is louder.

Returned a hose portable for this
Same claimed BTU, completely different cold. The hose thing never stood a chance.

The view is still a view
It sits so low in the window you see over it. Neighbors asked where the AC was.

Energy Saver actually cycles off
It holds 72 and the compressor rests. My bill noticed.

Second summer on it
Pulled it in for winter in two minutes, back up in spring in two more.

More home comfort from HAVN.
It fits standard double-hung and single-hung windows 24″ to 48″ wide, with an opening of at least 16″, a sill at least 8″ off the floor, and a clear wall up to 11″ below the sill outside. Use the checker above — and if you’re not sure, email a photo of your window to support@byhavn-co.com and we’ll confirm before you buy.
No. The U-shaped base rides the sill, so the weight rests on the window frame itself — balanced inside and out. Two finger-tight thumb screws steady it, the side screens fill the gaps, and the foam strips seal the seam. There is no drill anywhere in the process.
Yes — that’s the point of the category. The lower sash slides up and down over the inside half whenever you want fresh air, and closes onto the unit when you want cold.
The lower sash rests closed against the top of the unit, and the side screens close the sides. If you want it locked — ground floor, or just peace of mind — a standard sash lock or window wedge (a few dollars at any hardware store) locks the sash at exactly that height, the same way you’d secure a half-open window. Thirty seconds to fit, no tools.
The two adjustable side screens and the foam seal strips close the gaps beside and above the unit — they’re in the box, and they’re part of the 60-second install, not an extra step. No open seams, no highway for mosquitoes, no warm draft leaking in.
The outside half is built to live in the weather, like any window unit — rain is part of its job description. For the off-season, most owners lift it out (two minutes, same as the install) or fit a standard AC cover.
38 dB on Sleep mode, around 45 dB at high fan. The compressor — the loud half of any AC — hangs outside below the glass, with the wall and the closed window between you and it.
No. Both sizes run on a standard 115V household outlet — the same one your lamp uses.
10,000 BTU covers bedrooms and living rooms up to 450 sq ft — that’s most rooms in most homes. Go 12,000 BTU for large or open-plan spaces up to 550 sq ft. If you’re torn between the two for the same room, the 10,000 does the job.
The front filter slides out and rinses under the tap. The panel reminds you when it’s time — a minute a month, no parts to buy.
Two years on the compressor and electronics, and 30 days to change your mind for any reason. If it arrives damaged, send us a photo and we replace it or refund you — ours to solve, not yours to prove.
